ROHM Launches 80V MOSFETs for Automotive 48V Power Systems

Uploaded image ROHM has introduced the AG16xFNxx Series, a family of 80V N-channel power MOSFETs designed for automotive 48V power supply systems. The new devices are intended for applications including inverter control circuits, electric motors, and electric water pumps.

The AG16xFNxx Series, which consists of automotive-qualified 80V power MOSFETs used in 48V vehicle electrical systems and power conversion applications, is part of ROHM's EcoMOS portfolio and is available in HPLF5060 and DFN3333 package formats. Both package options are smaller than conventional TO-252 automotive MOSFET packages, allowing higher power density in automotive power designs.

HPLF5060 and DFN3333 Package Options

The HPLF5060 package measures 4.9 mm × 6.0 mm and incorporates Gull-Wing leads, while the DFN3333 package measures 3.3 mm × 3.3 mm and uses Wettable Flank technology.

ROHM states that both package technologies are intended to improve PCB mounting reliability. The company has also adopted Copper Clip Junction technology, which replaces conventional wire bonding with direct copper connections between the die and lead frame.

The company positions the new package options as alternatives to larger automotive MOSFET packages while maintaining support for high-current operation.

Devices Target Automotive 48V Systems

The initial lineup includes the AG160FNS4FRA in the HPLF5060 package and the AG166FNH7FRA in the DFN3333 package. Additional devices in both package families are listed as under development. The AG160FNS4FRA is rated for 80V operation, 120A continuous drain current, and a maximum RDS(on) of 3.2 mΩ. The AG166FNH7FRA is rated for 80V, 11.7A, and a maximum RDS(on) of 15.2 mΩ.

ROHM states that demand for 48V vehicle electrical architectures is increasing as automotive power requirements continue to rise. The company has developed the AG16xFNxx Series as an 80V MOSFET solution for these systems.

Automotive Qualification and Future Expansion

All devices in the AG16xFNxx Series comply with the AEC-Q101 automotive reliability standard. Mass production of the AG160FNS4FRA and AG166FNH7FRA began in April 2026, with the devices available through distribution channels including DigiKey and Farnell.

ROHM also states that development of additional devices in the HPLF5060 and DFN3333 families is ongoing. The company has also started development of products in a TOLG package measuring 9.9 mm × 11.7 mm.
