Bourns Announces its Smallest Package AEC-Q200 Compliant, Automotive Grade Thick Film Resistors
Bourns has expanded its CR-A-AS resistor family with a new ultra-compact offering: the CR01005A-AS Series. Measuring just 0.4 mm × 0.2 mm × 0.13 mm, it is the smallest AEC-Q200 compliant thick film resistor the company has released to date. Built for space-limited designs and challenging environmental conditions, the series brings together proven reliability, sulfur resistance, and robust electrical performance in a footprint suited for today’s high-density electronics.
Designed for Harsh Environments and Tight Spaces
The CR01005A-AS Series is fully compliant with the ASTM B-809 sulfur resistance standard, helping to reduce the risk of corrosion-induced failures in sulfur-rich environments. This makes it a strong fit for automotive, industrial, and portable consumer applications where long-term stability is essential.
The resistor’s sulfur-resistant film construction is validated through 1,000 hours of exposure at 105°C, and Bourns confirms full compliance with AEC-Q200 reliability standards, including thermal shock, humidity bias, and mechanical stress.

Despite its tiny package, the CR01005A-AS Series delivers dependable performance:

Load-life testing shows resistance drift within ±(1% + 0.05 Ω) after 1,000 hours under rated conditions, and solder heat endurance is confirmed with <0.5% resistance change after 10 seconds at 270°C.
