Rohde & Schwarz Extends ZNB3000 Vector Network Analyzer Range to 54 GHz

Uploaded image High-speed digital and RF systems are pushing beyond the frequency range that traditional VNAs can comfortably measure. From PCIe 7.0 interconnects running at 128 GT/s to satellite components operating in the Ka and V bands, engineers need instruments that combine wide bandwidth with fast measurement speed and excellent accuracy.

Rohde & Schwarz has expanded its ZNB3000 vector network analyzer family with new models covering up to 32 GHz, 43.5 GHz, and 54 GHz. First introduced in early 2025, the ZNB3000 series already stood out for its scalability and best-in-class RF performance. With this update, it now reaches the frequency range needed for advanced signal integrity, 6G, and SatCom development.

Supporting AI and High-Speed Interconnects

AI workloads in data centers rely on ultra-fast Ethernet links and high-bandwidth PCIe channels to move enormous volumes of data. Testing these links requires VNAs that can operate well beyond 50 GHz to ensure reliable eye diagrams and channel compliance. At EuMW 2025, Rohde & Schwarz is demonstrating the 54 GHz model characterizing a PCIe cable, showing how the instrument can validate high-speed interconnects used in AI and HPC systems.

Best-in-Class RF Performance

The ZNB3000 series maintains its 150 dB dynamic range, low trace noise of < 0.0015 dB RMS, and high output power, ensuring accurate measurements even at higher frequencies. A low start frequency of 9 kHz also enables time-domain analysis and mixed-domain signal integrity work. The instrument’s upgradeable architecture allows users to start with a lower-frequency unit and expand later, making it a future-proof investment.

Expanding RF Applications

Beyond high-speed digital, the new frequency options open the door to RF component testing for 5G, 6G, Wi-Fi, and SatCom applications. Filters, mixers, beamformers, and amplifiers operating in the Ka and V bands can all be characterized on the same platform, making the ZNB3000 a versatile tool for both R&D labs and production test environments.

The new 32 GHz, 43.5 GHz, and 54 GHz models will be available by the end of 2025. Engineers attending EuMW 2025 in Utrecht can see the 54 GHz model live at booth A026.
