Murata has expanded its DFE2MCPH_JL series of automotive-grade metal power inductors with nine new inductance values for power circuits in ADAS, in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) and other automotive electronics. Mass production of the new parts has already begun.
The new inductors are housed in the same compact 0806-inch (2.0 × 1.6 mm) package as the existing series, with a 40 V withstand voltage and AEC-Q200 compliance. The expansion adds 0.10, 0.15, 0.22, 0.68, 1.0, 1.5, 2.2, 3.3 and 4.7 µH options, extending the series across a wider range of automotive power supply requirements.
Murata has designed the DFE2MCPH_JL series around low DC resistance and high current capability in the small package, targeting power circuits where PCB space and power loss need to be kept down.
Nine New Inductance Values
At the lower end of the range, the new DFE2MCPHR10MJLLQ has an inductance of 0.10 µH ±20% and maximum DC resistance of 10 mΩ. Rated current based on inductance change is 11.1 A maximum, rising to 13.9 A typical, while the temperature-rise rating is 7.5 A maximum and 9.4 A typical.
The 0.15 µH and 0.22 µH versions have maximum DC resistance values of 12 mΩ and 15 mΩ respectively, with rated currents based on inductance change of 8.4 A and 8.2 A.
Further additions cover 0.68, 1.0, 1.5, 2.2 and 3.3 µH before reaching the new 4.7 µH DFE2MCPH4R7MJLLQ. The 4.7 µH version has a maximum DC resistance of 360 mΩ and a rated current of 1.6 A based on inductance change.
Together with the existing 0.33 µH and 0.47 µH parts, the DFE2MCPH_JL series now provides eleven inductance options from 0.10 µH to 4.7 µH.
2.0 × 1.6 mm Inductors for Automotive Power
All of the new parts use the series' 2.0 × 1.6 mm metal power inductor construction and are rated for a 40 V withstand voltage. AEC-Q200 compliance supports their use in automotive electronic systems.
Murata is targeting the expanded series at automotive power circuits used in ADAS and IVI equipment, where different power supply designs require different combinations of inductance, DC resistance and rated current.
The addition of the nine values extends the available selection without changing the 0806-inch footprint, giving designers more options when specifying the DFE2MCPH_JL series for compact automotive power circuits.
